(The Gear Loop) - SunGod might have made a splash in the cycling world with its oversized Airas glasses, but the British brand is now busy crafting eyewear for numerous sports.
Its latest model, dubbed Ultras, has been engineered specifically for runners, with the lightweight frameless construction (26g) and Adventureproof frame material proving both featherweight and sturdy.
What’s more, SunGod prides itself on using 100 per cent recycled materials in its frames, while the 8KO nylon lens technology with 100% UV protection offers runners the ability to personalise the view ahead.
Available in eight refined lens tints and two Iris photochromatic lens options, there’s a lens to suit most weather and running conditions, whether that’s a misty forest scene or ultra-bright Californian coastlines. Plus, said lenses can be swapped out in around 15 seconds.
As with most SunGod models, it’s also possible to opt for a fully custom pair of shades, with the user able to select from a number of frame colours, ear sock shades and logo hues.
In order to appeal to the trail runners out there, SunGod has ensured the Ultras can survive a drop or two, while the clever EarSocks and Nose Pads are made from the brand’s Grip-Lock hydrophilic rubber material. This intelligent material at the three key contact points means the more the runner sweats, the more the Ultras hold in place.
Plus, a choice of four sizes of Nose Pads comes as standard in every box to ensure each runner finds their perfect fit.
Only available from the SunGod website and costing £130/$185/€160, it’s the perfect excuse to go wild with the online configurator.
