(The Gear Loop) - Canadian climbing experts Arc'Teryx recently announced a series of events that are due to take place this year, all surrounding education and entertainment with regards to climbing, bouldering, hiking, wild swimming and camping.
The first event takes place close to home, with the Arc'Teryx Academy: Climb Lake District weekend spanning April 29 to May 1.
Here, the company has teamed up with the International School of Mountaineering to bring outdoors enthusiasts the very best climbing clinics for those just starting out, those who want to progress their climbing and those wanting to learn essential safety and rescue skills.
Lessons range from outdoor bouldering for beginners with a six participant to one instructor ratio. These cost £30 per entrant. Prices rise to £40 for the wild swimming and mindfulness courses, as well as the more advanced multi-pitch rock climbing events.
Things kick off on the Friday night at The Epicentre in Ambleside with a night of film, drinks and food, while The Sticklebarn in Langdale will act as basecamp for the entire weekend, with food, demo gear, live music and BBQs crackling away over the two days.
Later in the year, the brand will also host the 11th edition of its epic Arc'Teryx Alpine Academy, with proceedings taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Chamonix from June 30 to July 3.
Here, the company will run a similar collection of in-depth clinics, all taking place in the stunning Mont-Blanc Massif and Chamonix Valley, including selected highlight clinics with some of the world’s top mountain athletes. Essentially, your chance to learn skills from some of the best in the world.
Again, expect an interesting roster of live music, public events, experiences, food, activities and demo gear, with free admission to the basecamp operation open to all locals and visitors in the Chamonix area.
The main hub this year will be at the Alpine Village at Place du Triangle de l'Amitié in the heart of Chamonix, where guests can try their hand at mastering the bouldering wall, check out the artistic performances and chill out in the pop-up bar and lounge.
An elevated stage offers all visitors the opportunity to view world film premieres, listen to top guest speakers, and "jam out" to live DJ sets.
