(The Gear Loop) - Canyon has added four new models to its range of carbon fibre trail bikes in the form a thoroughly revised Neuron line-up.
Designed with adventure in mind, these bikes blend approachable riding characteristics with some of the world’s leading components, while offering ultra-lightweight carbon fibre frames to ensure on-trail performance.
There are plenty of neat innovations across the range too, including Canyon’s quick-release thru-axle, which combines the stiffness of a through-axle with an easy-out quick release mechanism. The top tube also has a unique Impact Protection Unit that stops the bars and levers from damaging the top tube after a big slam.
Kick-starting the new line-up is the Neuron CF 8, a unisex machine in its own right, but there’s also a WMN version with female specific components. Suspension travel on all new models is an impressive 140mm up front and 130mm at the rear, while all bikes get a "dropper" seat post as standard for tackling tricky descents with greater control.
The CF 8 forms the basis of the range but still comes with premium Fox 34 Float Performance front forks and DPS dampers. The drivetrain consists of a full Shimano XT groupset for crisp shifting and large disc brakes with four-piston callipers.
A set of DT Swiss XM 1700 alloy wheels complete the package, although you’ll have to step up to the CF 9 if you want lightweight, carbon fibre versions of those rims. This more expensive model also comes with a higher spec of Fox shock.
Finally, the range-topping, trail-hunting Neuron CF 9 SL (pictured here) is seen as the ultimate build in the model line-up, complete with Fox Factory Suspension, wireless SRAM GX AXS shifting, SRAM Code RSC brakes with whopping 180mm rotors and carbon DT Swiss wheels.
Canyon feels that its revised Neuron range offers a great do-it-all solution for those who merely want to get out after work and hit some trails, or for the more discerning mountain biker to tackle the more difficult routes.
For that reason, the range starts at £2,999/$5,199 for the CF 8 and tops out at £4,899/$6,499 for the dream build CF 9 SL. Reasonable money considering the plethora of features offered across the new model line-up. Head to the Canyon site for more.
